Training Center

The Importance of Agricultural Technology Transfer Centers

Agricultural Technology Transfer Centers are considered fundamental pillars in developing the agricultural sector and increasing its productivity and efficiency. They contribute to adopting modern technologies that reduce costs and maximize benefits. In Palestine, there are several research and academic centers working in this field, including:

Palestinian Center for Agricultural Research and Development (PALDAR): Established in 2009, specialized in olive oil production, olive press technologies, packaging, and storage.

Khodori Agricultural Research Center: Affiliated with Palestine Technical University - Khodori.

Technology Transfer and Knowledge Office – An-Najah National University.

Palestine Technology Transfer Camp 2020: Affiliated with the Supreme Council for Creativity and Excellence.

However, none of these centers directly engage with farmers or offer hands-on, post-academic training.

Why Do We Need an Agricultural Technology Transfer and Training Center?

Palestine is primarily an agricultural society facing exceptional conditions since 1948, enduring challenges related to occupation, climate change, and economic hardship.

There is a need to maximize the productivity of every square meter of land and every cubic meter of water using modern technologies.

Palestinians are a dynamic and knowledge-loving people who strive to contribute to global production, rather than being dependent on others.

Establishing a specialized Agricultural Technology Transfer and Training Center is vital for several reasons:

To import and apply the latest agricultural technologies that increase productivity and address challenges such as drought, diseases, and pests.

To promote agricultural sustainability through precision agriculture, renewable energy, and modern irrigation techniques.

To train farmers and agricultural technicians and improve their efficiency in using agricultural technologies.

To enhance food security and reduce dependency on imports.

To boost competitiveness of Palestinian products in local and global markets.

To support local research and innovation and foster collaboration among universities, farmers, and the private sector.

Why the Arab Development Society (ADS)?

ADS has been involved in agricultural development since 1945—long before the establishment of ministries of agriculture in the region.

Its six founding goals align with sustainable development principles, addressing productivity, environment, climate change, health, and education.

The society owns the necessary infrastructure (agricultural lands, livestock and plant facilities, a dairy factory, training halls, dormitories) to create a practical, replicable model.

ADS has strong local and international networks that can be leveraged to ensure the center’s success.

The center will serve as a technical counterpart to the National School of Administration, acting as a national academy for training in agricultural and agri-food professions.
