The Arab Development Society (ADS) was established in the city of Jerusalem in 1943 and was officially recognized by a resolution of the League of Arab States in 1945. ADS is a non-political, non-sectarian charitable organization with a unique charter approved at the time in support of a visionary proposal by the late Musa Alami.
The society was re-registered under Jordanian law in 1952 and holds a registration number in Jerusalem (580430056) and another in the State of Palestine (JR-614-A). The founding vision of ADS is built upon three core objectives:
- Improving Education, Agriculture, and Healthcare
The society launched its mission by surveying over 350 Palestinian villages and rural communities to assess their conditions in the fields of education, health, and agriculture across historic Palestine. - Creating an Impactful Agricultural Model
ADS aims to serve as a field-based example to inspire positive change among farmers through knowledge transfer and the replication of successful agricultural practices. The organization also places a strong focus on empowering rural women by supporting women-led cooperatives, enhancing their economic roles, and developing their skills within the communities surveyed. - Bridging the Gap Between Education and Practice
To address the disconnect between academic outputs and the practical skills required in the agricultural sector, the society has designated its production centers as hubs of innovation, excellence, and open training. These centers serve as platforms for targeted beneficiaries to gain hands-on experience with modern techniques, sustainable practices, and agri-tech applications.
